Constructing Sentences with Present Progressive Verbs Boom Cards

The purpose of this Boom Deck is to work on answering "What are you doing?" using full and compete sentences. The focus of this deck is to start sentences with either "The" or a pronoun and use present progressive verbs.

Progressive

Each Picture progressively works up to writing a complete sentence. (e.g. "She is running", "The woman is running")

Five Parts:

There are five parts to each picture which build on constructing sentences:

(1) Construct a full sentence starting with "The" given a set of words to choose from. A noun +ing and a verb +ing are presented to make sure child isn't just picking -ing words and to talk about the difference between noun and verb forms.

(2) Construct a full sentence starting with a pronoun (He/She/They) given a choice of words.

(3) Fill in the blank with the correct pronoun (making sure to use a capital letter) and present progressive verb.

(4) Full in the blank starting with "The" (making sure to use a capital letter) and the correct present progressive verb.

(5) Construct a full sentences (make sure all punctuation is correct and a variety of responses are acceptable but specific).

ASL GIF

American Sign Language (ASL) GIF is presented on the page as a prompt to answer "What is he/she doing?" or "What are they doing?"

20 Verbs targeted:

writing, cooking, typing, smelling, eating, running, dancing, cleaning, playing, sleeping, jumping, bike riding, climbing, sneezing, talking, swimming, drinking, pouring, watching, crying

Boom cards are especially great for distance learning as they are self grading exercises that are structured as a game for students and provide data for teachers.
